For millennia, people around the world have enjoyed the marvels of both green tea and fine spirits separately. Now arrives Zen, a premium green tea liqueur that merges two of the worlds most popular beverages. The process begins in Kyoto, the historic capital city of Japan, which is also well known for its superior quality tea. Here green tea leaves of the highest grade are grown by one of the most distinguished producers of fine teas in Japan, Marukyu- Koyama-En. Each leaf is carefully selected to ensure the highest quality to create matcha (ground green tea powder), which gives ZEN its dark color and texture. After being chosen, the leaves are infused with neutral spirits for a period of ten days and then blended with flavors and exotic herbs such as lemon grass.
Nose: Great elegance and charm on the nose.
Palate: Balanced and rich flavors.
Finish: Elegant long-lasting aftertaste.
Suntory is a Japanese business group best known for its whisky range, though its other interests include soft drinks, beer, wine and health foods. In 2014 it acquired Beam Inc. whose brands include Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark, Canadian Club and Courvoisier. As well as products where the Suntory brand features prominently, such as the beer range and Suntory Kakubin, Gold, Reserve and Old whiskies, there are various sub-brands. These include Hibiki blended whisky (introduced in 1989) and the Hakushu and Yamazaki single malts. In addition to the numerous international assets from the Beam Suntory subsidiary, the company also owns the Saint-Julien estates Lagrange and Beychevelle (50 percent with Castel), plus the Scottish distilleries Laphroaig, Bowmore and Ardmore.
