Via Cobos Vinculum Malbec is a refined expression of Argentine Malbec, sourced from selected high-altitude vineyards across the Valle de Uco. Situated between 2,300 and 3,900 feet above sea level, these semi-desert sites produce fruit of remarkable purity and intensity, resulting in a wine that perfectly captures Mendozas vibrant terroir.
Founded in 1999 by Paul Hobbs, Via Cobos embodies his vision of creating wines that convey authenticity, balance, and a true sense of place. Having first visited Mendoza in 1989, Hobbs recognised the potential of Malbec to produce world-class wines and became a key figure in elevating Argentinas global reputation. Today, Via Cobos is acclaimed for its meticulous viticulture and elegantly structured wines from Lujn de Cuyo and Valle de Uco.
Grapes are hand-harvested from sustainably farmed vineyards in the Valle de Uco. Fermentation follows traditional red winemaking techniques to preserve varietal character and depth. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels30% new and 70% second useallowing gentle integration of oak without overpowering the fruit.
Deep inky violet in colour, the nose reveals expressive aromas of tart cherry, dark chocolate, and exotic spice. On the palate, it is elegant and energetic, with a textured structure, fine-grained tannins, and balanced acidity leading to a long, poised finish.
An ideal companion for richly flavoured dishes such as beef wellington, lamb shanks, or roast poultry.
