Zeni Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Barriques is a full-bodied, powerful red from the Valpolicella Classica zone in Verona, Italy. It is rich and intense, offering layered aromas of ripe black cherries, vanilla, cocoa, and spice, exemplifying the classic complexity of an Amarone.
Founded in Bardolino, Gaetano Nino Zeni transformed the winery in the 1950s, relocating production to the hills above the village with a modern approach that prioritises quality and tradition. Today, Zeni is renowned for producing expressive Amarone wines that balance power, elegance, and depth.
The finest grapes are hand-harvested and placed in small crates to dry for 45 months, concentrating sugars, flavours, and aromas. Fermentation occurs with extended skin contact for 45 weeks, followed by ageing in French oak barriques for 1224 months. A short period in stainless steel vats ensures balance before bottling.
Deep ruby red in the glass, the nose presents ripe black cherries, rich fruit, vanilla, and subtle cocoa and spice notes. On the palate, the wine is rounded, velvety, and full-bodied, with a long, harmonious finish.
Pairs beautifully with red meats, game, and hearty braised dishes. Decant for at least 30 minutes before serving to reveal the full aromatic complexity.
