The Wine Advocate 91 Points | The 2021 Red Wine 1 Pinot Noir fermented 35% with a five- to seven-day cold soak, 35% with carbonic maceration and the remaining 30% with a traditional fermentation, all with indigenous yeasts and only using minimal sulfur after malolactic. It matured for 24 months, 50% in untoasted 1,500-liter oak vats and 50% in 1,000-liter concrete egg. It has a dark cherry color and is one of the ripest of the wines, with 13.5% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity, coming through as balanced with notes of dark berry fruit and an earthy twist. It’s medium-bodied with some dusty tannins that give it a slightly rustic edge. It needs time in the glass, where it improves with air and the rustic twist seems to go away. 7,333 bottles were filled unfined and unfiltered in March 2023.
